Purpose: To introduce the most critical elements of Law Enforcement (LE) Precision Marksmanship Operations (Sniper Observer deployment) and provide the student the opportunity to demonstrate a command of the associated concepts and techniques.
This 40-hour course will equip students with critical skills in safety rules, sniper observer concepts, rifle and optics selection, and marksmanship fundamentals. It covers advanced topics such as ballistics, sniper accuracy standards, decision-making in high-risk engagements, and designated marksman deployment. Students will also learn techniques for observation, communication, and navigation in law enforcement operations.
Required Equipment:
- Bolt Action or Semi-Automatic Rifle with a high-quality barrel (LE grade preferable)
- Variable power optic (minimum magnification range 1x8)
- Adjustable bi-pod
- Rifle sling and magazines (2)
- DM style guns may have additional Red Dot Optic.
Minimal Equipment Includes:
- Rear shooting bag
- Shooting mat
- Suitable ammunition (400 rounds)
- Eye and ear protection
- Small backpack and water bottles (2)
- Both Data Book and Ballistic Calculator (App or computer) are recommended
- Semi-dark bug screening (4’ wide by 20’ long)
Additional Optional Equipment Includes:
- Laser Range Finder
- Drag bag
- Tripod
- Spotting scope
- Wind Meter
- Sun block, snacks, and electrolyte replacement
- Chronographs if available.
